It’s never too early: Profound career decisions require career readiness. Are you an early career postdoc looking to build the foundation for well-informed career choices? This workshop will help you take practical and manageable steps toward exploring diverse career paths, so when the time comes, you’ll feel confident and prepared to make the right decisions.
Take time for yourself, connect with peers, and find inspiration in the process. When you know your options, you gain confidence and satisfaction (Hirschi/Valero, 2017), and – most importantly: Career exploration can actually be fun!

Participants learn to:
- Reflect on their career resources: discover their strengths, transferable skills, and unique value.
- Prototype their vision: experiment with different career scenarios and test what excites them.
- Explore the current job market: learn about new roles and opportunities, both inside and outside academia.
- Set SMART goals: turn their aspirations into actionable plans.
Roger Gfrörer leads the UZH Career Services and is passionate about helping postdocs explore new professional possibilities. Julia Michael is a career development enthusiast at the UZH Career Services, who guides researchers as they discover and pursue their individual career paths.
Postdocs in the early phase of their research appointment (approximately 2 years before their next career move).
Conditions of participation:
- A no-show will lead to a blocked account and the cancellation of all other booked GRC courses.
- You may only register for two courses per semester.
