In this one-day workshop, participants are familiarized with important elements of Open Science, Open Access and Open Data. They learn about the publication process and ways to publish Open Access in the journal of their choice, how and where to share their research data (in a FAIR way), and how to properly manage their data. We will also touch upon legal aspects of sharing research outputs such as copyright, licensing, author rights and data protection, and discuss the potential personal and societal impact of making research transparent.
This course will include preparatory tasks that participants are required to complete before the workshop.
 
  • Identify ways to publish Open Access in the journal of your choice
  • Distinguish between different manuscript versions in the publication process
  • Name ways to keep your author rights
  • Find and name good data repositories to share your data
  • Distinguish between different licenses
  • Adhere to data protection regulations for personal and sensitive data
  • Name advantages and disadvantages of Open Science
