How can you use social media platforms effectively to make your research and scientific content accessible to a broader audience? 
 
Our practice-oriented introductory course is aimed at early career researchers at UZH who have taken their first steps in science communication on social media and would like to professionalize their presence or aim to start using social media for science communication purposes. The course offers practical insights and strategies for communicating scientific content in an appealing and target-group-oriented way and thus increasing the visibility and reach of your research. The content learned will be applied in practical exercises with your own examples.

The participants 

• are able to define goals for their scientific communication on social media and address their target groups in a targeted and understandable way. 
• know the characteristics of different social media platforms and can use them optimally for their scientific communication. 
• can react professionally to criticism and negative comments on social media. 
• are familiar with the support options offered by UZH for their presence on social media.

Early-career researchers who want to use social media for science communication and aim to professionalize their presence. 

• The prerequisite is an existing account on a social media platform on which the participants are active or would like to be active in the future.  
• Basic knowledge of the functions of the chosen social media platform. 
• Please bring your own laptop and a research topic that can be used directly in the practical exercises.  
   

New conditions of participation:

• A no-show will lead to a blocked account and the cancellation of all other booked GRC courses.   
• You may only register for two courses per semester.
