Postdoc / Appointment training: How to become a professor
General information
This training is designed for postdoctoral researchers planning to apply for professorships in the near future.
The appointment training systematically and purposefully prepares participants for the application and appointment process. Depending on participants' interests, the training can focus on different academic systems, including German-speaking countries, large parts of the EU, the UK, the USA, and Canada.
Participants will
• Receive a comprehensive overview of the basics and procedures involved in university appointment processes.
• Gain practical tips on preparing their applications and structuring their application documents effectively.
• Engage in simulated training scenarios for key elements of the process, such as interviews with appointment committees.

• have developed effective strategies to prepare for appointment negotiations.
• understand the framework, key elements, and variations of appointment procedures in different academic systems.
• are equipped to prepare thoroughly for applications and optimize their application dossiers.
• are confident in presenting their strengths convincingly during interactions with hiring committees and adept at responding to critical questions.

Dr. Margarete Hubrath, uni-support; since 2001 working nationally and internationally as a trainer, consultant and coach in academia; with a focus on appointment trainings and negotiations.
Postdocs of all faculties
Optional: Individual appointments from 13:30.
New conditions of participation:
- A no-show will lead to a blocked account and the cancellation of all other booked GRC courses.
- You may only register for two courses per semester.
