Do you want to drive social innovation and sustainability beyond academia? Join our practical workshop – an interactive session that provide you with actionable strategies and ideas on how to turn your research into a driving force for meaningful social and environmental progress. Using practical tools such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the “Theory of Change”, and the “Social Impact Canvas”, you will identify which communities and ecosystems could benefit from your work and outline concrete ways to reach them. You will also examine how social ventures grow and how systems thinking can help scale sustainable change.
- Learn about different forms of entrepreneurship and ways to make a social impact.
- Start exploring how to turn your research into entrepreneurial ideas that tackle societal challenges and contribute to positive social change.
- Learn about practical tools for developing an impact-oriented value proposition and business model.
- Understand how social impact can be achieved and scaled up through social innovation and systemic approaches.
- Take concrete steps to explore or embark on your entrepreneurial journey, and gain a clear understanding of how your research can contribute to social change.

Early career researchers of all disciplines with an interest in entrepreneurship and innovation, and a motivation to create impact beyond publications.
This workshop is part of the Entrepreneurial Skills series, a collaboration between UZH Graduate Campus and UZH Innovation Hub.
A certificate of participation will be issued for each workshop. Once four or more certificates have been earned participants may request a certificate for Entrepreneurial Skills issued by the Graduate Campus and Innovation Hub.
1 ECTS Credit will be awarded (on request) to PhD candidates who have completed four or more workshops of the Entrepreneurial Skills series.
