PhD / Postdoc / Entrepreneurial Skills: Get your innovation project funded - Navigating funding and grant applications

This hands-on workshop is designed to equip early career researchers with essential skills for securing innovation funding and translating research into real-world impact. Participants will gain a practical understanding of the innovation funding landscape and explore different implementation pathways—from startups to collaboration with implementation partners.
Through expert-led sessions and interactive exercises, the workshop explains the differences between research and innovation grants, helps participants articulate value creation, and introduces key concepts such as technology readiness levels (TRLs), business planning, and intellectual property.
By the end of the session, researchers will be better prepared to identify suitable funding schemes and take the next step toward turning their ideas into viable innovations.

Participants:
- Understand the fundamentals of innovation funding, including TRLs and implementation routes.
- Write a convincing value creation section and integrate elements like business planning and IP strategy.
- Identify which funding program is most suitable for a specific project

This workshop is part of the "Entrepreneurial skills" series, which is organized in collaboration with the UZH Innovation Hub.
A certificate of participation will be issued for each workshop. When four or more certificates are achieved, participants may request a certificate for "Entrepreneurial skills" issued by the Graduate Campus and Innovation Hub.
1 ECTS Credit will be awarded (on request) to PhD candidates who have completed four or more workshops of the "Entrepreneurial skills" series.
