Postdoc / Pivot with purpose: Strategic career moves for advanced postdocs

It’s never too late: Career transition requires reflection, tools, and action. This workshop provides a protected space - time and room to reflect - where advanced postdocs can focus on their next career steps outside of the academic track. Participants will be equipped with practical tools and gain first concrete ideas for tackling the transition ahead. You’ll explore your own readiness for change and expand your career resources, guided by the European Competence Framework for Researchers.

Take time for yourself, connect with peers, and find inspiration in the process. When you know your options, you gain confidence and satisfaction (Hirschi/Valero, 2017), and – most importantly: Career exploration can actually be fun!
 

Participants:

• Reflect on and evaluate your personal career resources (the skills, achievements and more)
• Understand the structure of the job market and the roles of key players to better tailor your strategy..
• Learn how to research career opportunities, and analyze job postings
• Start mapping out a strategy to transition successfully into a non-academic field.

 

Dr. Roger Gfrörer leads the UZH Career Services and is passionate about helping postdocs explore new professional possibilities. Dr. Julia Michael is a career development enthusiast at the UZH Career Services, who guides researchers as they discover and pursue their individual career paths.
